A system analyst is a translator from the language of business into the language of technology. The system analysis itself is an applied part of the business analysis. If the earlier business analysis reveals what steps need to be taken to achieve the goal, then the subsequent system analysis will go into details, describing each specific process of changes and forming each part of the new system.

The result of the system analysis is a ready-made requirements specification for programmers who will develop and implement a new system in the most effective way and within a minimal time frame. An equally important part of the system analysis is the integration of the new system into the existing environment. Also, system analysis involves the creation of a prototype, which serves as a visual example of a future system and allows the client to make changes in the course of the development process.
